Partners in Creation

A Creative Journey

The Partners in Creation program offers a front row seat to Bill T. Jones' artistic process, allowing an unprecedented level of access to one of the pre-eminent artists of our time as he conceptualizes, choreographs, develops and refines a new work. The creative journey follows a work from the gestation of the first creative idea through the rehearsal process to the premiere and touring of the work. Through private rehearsals, salons with the artists in the homes of our partners and/or board members, email updates from Bill, and private dinners and opening night performances, our Partners in Creation enjoy a first-hand experience of the creative journey.

Partners in Creation Commissions

Since its inception in 2006, Partners in Creation have funded over 60% of each of the two new works that have been developed, Chapel/Chapter (2006) and A Quarreling Pair (2007). Upcoming new work creations and special projects include: Serenade/The Proposition; Fondly Do We Hope...Fervently Do We Pray; Lincoln Lectures, and the 100 Migrations (nationwide workshops).  To date they have raised $1.85 million.

◊ Roots, Renaissance, Revolution!
June 19, 2009

I told Anne that while I am flattered to be seen as a "revolutionary" it would be more accurate and less pompous if I said simply that I am a survivor working with every tool I have to make work, maintain an organization (will we always be a dance company?) and stay in touch with that impulse that lead me to this life in the first place.
