Summer Workshop 2010

The Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company just completed its Summer Workshop on Saturday, June 26. Thirty dancers from twelve states traveled to Barnard College in New York City to participate in the weeklong intensive! Each day, students took technique class taught by a BTJ/AZ company member and learned phrases from the company's newest works, Serenade/The Proposition and Fondly Do We Hope... Fervently Do We Pray. In daily composition class, the dancers learned and applied the same the choreographic tools used by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company to generate their own material. Dancers used their material to create a group work, which they shared during a final showing at the end of the week.
Here is what students have already shared about their experience at Summer Workshop:
"I plan to use these comments I've received throughout my dance career. This is definitely one of the best summer workshops I've been to."
"The workshop overall this year was thorough and streamlined. I applied concepts I learned in technique to the phrasework I learned and then in my own compositions as the week progressed."
"This week has been a gem in my dance experience. I will not forget it."
